Is Bokta Peak Climb Right For You?

  • The weather conditions in the mountain region can be unpredictable. They can affect the itinerary in terms of the number of days. Customer safety is our top priority, and thus, the Bokta peak climbing package may lengthen in case of harsh weather. So make sure you plan the time of the year carefully. The scenery and conditions may vary depending on the season you choose to go on this expedition.
  • For about a week, you will have to walk continuously for 5 to 6 hours per day, excluding the climb itself. So it is a must that you prepare yourself physically and mentally for the challenge. Engage in exercises to increase your stamina and strength before you come to Nepal for your climb. Also, it will be advantageous if you engage yourself in climbing exercises prior to this expedition.
  • Bokta Peak rests at 6143m/20,154ft. This climb is technically easy but will challenge your stamina, endurance, and strength. The adventure may be particularly challenging for those with low fitness levels or no previous summiting experience. So make sure to improve your stamina and strength.
  • This journey includes around two weeks of overnight stays over 3000 meters. The thinning air pressure may increase the risk of developing AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). You may experience shortness of breath and mild headaches during your stay and climb. Your guide will make sure to lead you at your natural pace. Walk slowly to let your body adjust to the thinning air.
  • Our guides and Sherpas are well trained and experienced in handling emergencies. They also carry first aid, including some emergency medicines, to help you in times of difficulty. In extreme cases where you need emergency evacuation from any spot on the trail, we will rescue you via helicopter.
  • We recommend that you keep yourself active and fit to decrease the risk of fatality. Make sure that you are physically fit and mentally prepared to make the climb before booking the trip. If you are unsure about your conditions, you should seek medical advice.

The climb is steep and technical from here onwards, so it is going to be difficult. Your guide will fix the ropes and carefully lead you towards the apex of Bokta Peak. You should have your crampons on to avoid slipping accidents.

Keep moving along the trail, and you will soon stand on top of the Bokta Peak. Breathe the fresh mountain air and celebrate your achievement. Enjoy the view of Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586 meters), Mt. Kumbhakarna (7710 meters), Dhormo Peak (6143 meters), Nupchu Peak (6690 meters), and several other mountains.

After making sure that you have caught the best views of the Kanchenjunga range from the height of 6143 meters, you will slowly make your way down to the Bokta Peak Base camp. The trail is tricky, especially when descending, so be careful. You will make multiple stops in between to catch your breath. Bokta Peak Base Camp (5123 meters) is your camping spot for tonight.

Highlights

  • Summit the Bokta Peak
  • A magical view of the mountain ranges from the height of 6143 meters
  • 360 degrees panoramic view of surrounding mountains including Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Kumbhakarna, Dhorpo Peak, Nupchu Peak, and many more
  • Approximate time - 7 to 8  hours

Special Information

The view from 6143 meters is fantastic. You can see the Kanchenjunga massif from up here while the clouds soar far beneath you. As mesmerizing as the scenery from up here can be, it is equally risky. Being at such great height for a longer time dramatically induces the symptoms of altitude sickness. Don’t spend much of your time here. Take shots from every angle possible, enjoy the view from every point, and climb down as soon as possible.

Nar phu valley trek with Kamal guide, perfect!

My partner and I went on a 9-day trek in the Nar and Phu Valley. Our Kamal guide was just perfect! Professional and very nice, he accompanied us along with the porter Prim throughout the itinerary, adapting it to our needs and desires. I don't think we could have fallen into better hands than Kamal, he promptly solved all the little problems we encountered, he was fantastic as was the porter Prim. Amazing experience thank you!

Nepal Social Treks Review

I’ve just completed the 15 day Everest Base Camp trek with Nepal Social Treks and can’t praise the company, guide & porter highly enough. My guide in particular, Lhakpa was an absolute star who could not do enough to make the time away as comfortable as possible. Considerate, knowledgeable, funny, kind & inspiring. I genuinely don’t think I could have completed the trek without their support! A lifetime ambition completed thanks :)

EBC by Gokyo

If you are planning to do the EBC, the Agency should be Nepal Social Trek and the Guide should be Santa Thabir Magar. Permanent communication during trekking and excellent coordination at all times. The alternative I recommend is Gokyo. Something heavier than the classic, but definitely extraordinary. Also the views of the great mountains during the circuit, are not to forget them
