A Journey Beyond Imagination to the Home of Lord Shiva

For a very long time, the snowy Mount Kailash has been very special to people who believe in Lord Shiva. This mountain is thought to be his heavenly home. Near it is Lake Mansarovar, a beautiful lake believed to come from the mind of Lord Brahma. People who want to wash away the bad karma from many lives, feel closer to God, or complete a deep promise come here. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not just a normal trip. It is a powerful spiritual journey that touches the soul and goes beyond time and distance.

Now, after five years of waiting due to changes in the world and other countries, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is open again for Indian pilgrims in 2025. This is a special chance for people to walk the same path that saints and holy seekers have walked for thousands of years. For many, 2025 is not just another year to travel. It is the year to answer a holy calling they have waited for their whole lives.

This special 9-day helicopter yatra starts from Lucknow. It gives people the deep spiritual meaning of the traditional journey, but with modern comfort. Instead of long, hard road travel, this plan uses helicopter rides and smooth travel help. That means more people — like older adults, working people, and families — can take part in the journey without feeling too tired.

Even though the trip is easier on your body, it still changes your soul.

This journey is led by a trusted team who has helped thousands of people go on the Kailash Yatra from Lucknow. With over ten years of experience, they know not only the roads and places but also the feelings, needs, and hopes of each pilgrim.

The guides are trained in staying safe at high places. They speak Hindi, English, and other local languages. They stay with you the whole time. Behind them is a strong support team who takes care of everything — like helping you get your visa and permits, planning rest days to help your body get used to high places, giving you clean places to sleep, fresh vegetarian food, and help in case of emergencies.

We are more than just trip planners. We are caretakers of your sacred journey. We work to make sure your yatra is safe, smooth, and full of spiritual meaning.

Our company is a trusted leader in private Kailash helicopter tours. We follow all rules of the different countries and regions. We work closely with the local teams in Nepalgunj, Simikot, and Taklakot. That means all legal, health, and travel steps are ready before your trip even begins.

In 2025, you can make your dream of visiting Mount Kailash come true — starting from Lucknow, by helicopter, with comfort and strong faith. This is more than just a trip. It is a deep journey inside yourself. It is finally back after years of waiting, and it is made for those who want more than just seeing the place — they want to feel a true change inside.

This could be the year you finally stand before Mount Kailash — not just in your mind, but in real life.

Spiritual Significance of Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar: A Journey for the Soul

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is more than just a travel trip. It is a deep spiritual journey, full of devotion, purification, and self-discovery. Every step of this sacred path is connected to ancient stories, respect from many religions, and the quiet hearts of seekers from long ago until today. Understanding its meaning is to feel the strong attraction that brings pilgrims from all over the world to this holy place.

Mount Kailash: The Center of the Spiritual Universe

Mount Kailash stands 6,638 meters tall. It is holy as the home of Lord Shiva, who is a powerful god in Hinduism. But it is sacred to many religions:

  • In Hinduism, Shiva lives here with Goddess Parvati. Seeing Kailash is like seeing the eternal.
  • In Buddhism, it is the home of the deity Chakrasamvara and the place where important teachings were received.
  • For Jains, it is Ashtapada, where the first Tirthankara reached liberation.
  • In Tibet’s ancient Bön religion, Kailash is a powerful spiritual place where the founder came from the heavens.

Many people see Kailash as the spiritual center of the world. It is said to have four faces made of crystal, ruby, gold, and lapis lazuli, which show purity and spiritual strength. No one climbs the mountain, not even mountaineers, to respect its holiness.

The Parikrama: Walking Around Kailash for Spiritual Cleansing

Walking around Mount Kailash, called the Kora or Parikrama, is believed to clean away bad karma from many lives. The full walk is about 52 kilometers and usually takes three days.

  • Doing one Parikrama is said to remove a lifetime of sins.
  • Doing thirteen Parikramas can free a person from being reborn.
  •  Doing 108 Parikramas is said to bring full enlightenment.

The walk, especially over the Dolma La Pass at 5,600 meters, is not just hard for your body but also a symbol of leaving behind pride, attachments, and suffering — a rebirth through humility.

Lake Mansarovar: The Divine Mirror

Lake Mansarovar lies at the base of Mount Kailash at 4,500 meters height. It is very sacred.

  • Hindu texts say the lake was made in the mind of Lord Brahma and then appeared on Earth. Its name means “Mind Lake.”
  • It is believed to be the source of four great rivers in Asia: Brahmaputra, Indus, Sutlej, and Karnali (a branch of the Ganges).
  • Bathing in its cold water is said to wash away all sins, and drinking the water can purify your soul and bring blessings.
  • Many pilgrims meditate near the lake, feeling its peaceful energy and silence that takes away the noise of the world.

Seeing Mount Kailash reflected in the calm water of Mansarovar at sunrise or under the full moon is one of the most spiritual experiences a person can have.

A Journey That Changes You Across Faiths and Time

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar together represent a meeting point — between earth and sky, spirit and body, devotion and letting go. This Yatra is more than just a place to visit. It is:

  • A test of faith and letting go
  • A way to find inner peace and clear thinking
  • A shared path for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bön followers
  • An ancient tradition that welcomes modern seekers

For many people, finishing this journey is the answer to a spiritual calling — a moment when outer struggles lead to inner awakening.

Why Choose This Kailash Yatra from Lucknow? The Best Choice for Pilgrims

When a journey is as sacred as the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, the path you choose can change how deep and peaceful your experience is. This 9-day helicopter journey from Lucknow is made for people who want spiritual joy but not the very hard physical parts of the trip. Here’s why this is the best choice for pilgrims in 2025:

Very Easy Start: Directly from Lucknow

You don’t need to worry about catching extra flights or stopping in faraway cities like Kathmandu. Starting from Lucknow, which is a busy and well-connected city in India, makes things simple. It saves you energy and time before the journey even begins.

Helicopter Travel: Saves Time, Gives Comfort, and Is Easy for All

This journey replaces hard road trips with quick helicopter flights between Simikot and Hilsa. This is a big help for modern pilgrims.

  • Save Time – What usually takes 4–5 days by road now happens through short, pretty flights. That gives you more time for spiritual activities.
  • Less Tiredness – You avoid bumpy roads, tiredness from high altitudes, and long travel in vehicles. This is great for older people and those visiting high places for the first time.
  • See the Himalayas from the Sky – You get amazing views of the mountains and sacred lands that very few people get to see.
  • Good for Busy People – If you are working, older, or have body issues, this trip gives you a chance to take part in the yatra too.

Safety Comes First: Rest Days to Help Your Body Adjust

High places can affect health if you don’t prepare well. This journey includes rest days in Simikot and Taklakot before you go higher. These days help your body get used to the thin air. It keeps you safe and helps you enjoy the journey better.

No Stress – Everything is Ready for You

This trip takes care of everything — permits, travel, border papers, food, beds, staff, and even spiritual help. The team has guided many successful yatras. You will have bilingual guides, Sherpa helpers, Indian cooks, and safety tools. You can just focus on your spiritual purpose.

Feel Spiritually Connected Without Feeling Exhausted

Old-style road journeys often make people tired before they even start their spiritual time. With shorter travel and less stress, you save your energy and feel more peaceful. That way, you can enjoy the holy rituals at Lake Mansarovar and during the Mount Kailash walk — whether you’re praying, meditating, or sitting quietly.

A Journey Worth the Money

Helicopter trips may cost more than road trips, but they give you more in return. You get:

  • A lot of time saved
  • More comfort and easier travel
  • Better safety in high places
  • A well-planned route
  • A peaceful, full spiritual experience

This is not just money spent. It is something you do once in a lifetime — a holy trip made easier, safer, and more meaningful. Many people wait their whole lives for this moment. It should be done with care, peace, and comfort.

Day-by-Day Itinerary: Your Special Journey to Mount Kailash

Day 1: Start Your Journey – Arrive in Lucknow and Drive to Nepalgunj

Your spiritual journey begins in Lucknow, a big city in India. This city was chosen because it is easy for people from different parts of India to reach. When you arrive at the airport or train station, our team will be there to welcome you and help you with everything, so you don’t need to worry about anything. This is the first step of a peaceful and meaningful journey.

From Lucknow, you will go on a relaxing 3 to 4-hour drive to Nepalgunj. This is a city in southern Nepal. The drive is smooth and calm, with nice views of the countryside and border areas. It helps you slowly settle into the rhythm of the journey.

When you reach Nepalgunj, you will stay at a nice 5-star hotel like Hotel Soaltee Western Premier or Central Plaza. These hotels have everything you need to rest well and get ready for the next part of the trip. This is your last stay at low altitude before going into the mountains.

In the evening, you will attend an important meeting. Our expert guides will explain the whole journey, answer your questions, and talk about safety, health, and what to expect at the border. This is also a good time to meet others who are going with you and to think about the spiritual reason for your journey.

You will end the day with a welcome dinner. The food will be pure vegetarian Indian dishes made by our team in Nepal. This meal helps prepare your mind and body for a peaceful and meaningful journey toward Mount Kailash.

Trip Details for Day 1

  • Elevation:
  • Lucknow – about 120 meters (394 feet)
  • Nepalgunj – about 150 meters (492 feet)

(There is not much change in altitude, which makes this a good day to rest and prepare.)

  • Arrival: Pickup from Lucknow airport or railway station
  • Distance and Time: About 200 km – 3 to 4 hours by road
  • Meals: Breakfast (B), Lunch (L), Dinner (D)
  • Hotel: Soaltee Western Premier or Central Plaza or similar in Nepalgunj – 5-star hotel with full services

Day 2: Into the Mountains – Flight to Simikot and Helicopter to Taklakot

On Day 2, your journey changes a lot, both in location and spirit. You will go from the lowlands to the tall Himalayan mountains, near the border of Tibet. This part of the journey is done by flight and helicopter.

The day starts early. You will go to the Nepalgunj airport and take a 45-minute flight to Simikot. During the flight, you will see beautiful views of fields, rivers, and snowy mountains. This is your first close look at the great Himalayas.

After landing in Simikot (2,910 meters), our team will take you to a helicopter. This 25-minute ride to Hilsa is exciting and important. It saves you from many days of walking through tough mountain paths.

At Hilsa (3,640 meters), our Nepal and China teams will help you with immigration at the Sher border. This is where you cross from Nepal into Tibet. We have a lot of experience with this process, so it goes smoothly and respectfully.

After crossing the border, you will take a short 15-kilometer drive (about 45 minutes) to Taklakot in Tibet. Taklakot is 3,900 meters high. This quiet town is surrounded by high plains and mountains. You will stay at the Himalayan Guest House or something similar. It is a simple place but clean and good for rest in this remote area.

The rest of the day is for rest and short walks to help your body get used to the high altitude. Since you’ve gone up from 150 meters in Nepalgunj to almost 4,000 meters, your body needs time to adjust. Our team will help you stay healthy by giving tips on drinking water, eating right, and taking care of yourself.

After breakfast in Taklakot, you will go on a 78-kilometer drive across the wide Tibetan plateau. The drive takes about 2 to 3 hours and gives you peaceful views and time to think.

Mansarovar Lake is 4,590 meters high. It is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world. Many people believe that taking a bath in this lake can clean your soul and remove past bad actions. When you reach the lake, the quiet and calm area around it brings a strong feeling of peace and respect.

You will have plenty of time to connect with the place. You can take a holy dip in the cold water if you want. It is believed to bring blessings and spiritual strength. You will see Mount Kailash in the distance, which makes the moment feel even more powerful.

Our team will help with worship rituals like pooja, fire prayers (havana), and quiet meditation. These moments are guided carefully to respect the holy nature of the place. Our experienced staff will be there to help you do everything in the right way so you can focus on your spiritual journey.

Day 4: Get Ready for the Trek – Rest and Acclimatize at Darchen

Day 4 starts with a quiet morning near Mansarovar. Then you take a short drive to Darchen, a small village at 4,575 meters that is the starting point for the Kailash Parikrama (a holy walk around the mountain).

The drive from the lake to Darchen is about 30 kilometers and takes less than an hour. Even though it’s a short drive, it is important for your body. This day is made for rest and for your body to get used to the height. It helps you save energy for the walk ahead.

In Darchen, you will stay at the Himalayan Hotel. This is the best place to stay in the area, even though it is simple. It offers warmth, comfort, and a good place to get ready.

Our team will be there to help with any final packing or questions. They may give one more briefing to talk about what the Parikrama will be like and how to stay safe and strong during the walk.

If you feel well and have time, you may also visit nearby spiritual sites like Astapad or Tirthapuri. Astapad is believed to be where Lord Shiva watched the universe. Tirthapuri has warm springs and is linked to Guru Rinpoche.

Darchen is quiet, and you can feel something special in the air as you prepare for the next part of your journey. With Mount Kailash in the distance, this day is for thinking deeply and feeling ready for what is ahead.

  • Travel: Comfortable coach
  • Distance and Time: About 30 kilometers – about 1 hour by road
  • Meals: Breakfast (B), Lunch (L), Dinner (D)
  • Hotel: Himalayan Hotel in Darchen – The best available stay in the area with simple but good facilities, close to the walking path around Kailash

Day 5: First View of the North Face – Starting the Sacred Kailash Parikrama to Dirapuk

Today is the start of the Kailash Parikrama, which is the most important and life-changing part of your pilgrimage. After an early breakfast, the group leaves Darchen for a short drive to Yam Dwar, known as the "Gateway of the God of Death." This is the official starting point of the sacred walk around Mount Kailash. Yam Dwar is at 4,790 meters high and is a place with deep religious meaning. Pilgrims often stop here to perform personal rituals, say silent prayers, and make final offerings before beginning the trek.

From Yam Dwar, you will begin an 18-kilometer walk to Dirapuk, which is the first part of the three-day outer Kora. This walk usually takes about 4 to 5 hours. The trail is fairly easy and goes through wide valleys with tall mountains watching quietly. While walking, the beautiful North Face of Mount Kailash slowly comes into view. Many pilgrims say seeing it is one of the most humbling and sacred moments of their lives.

This day is not just about how far you walk; it is about devotion. Every step you take is part of a tradition that is hundreds of years old. It is believed to burn away bad karma, clean the soul, and help you feel closer to the divine. Walking becomes like a moving meditation.

During the trek, you will be helped by our experienced Nepalese Sherpas. They help with packed lunches, managing your gear, and other important tasks. These Sherpas are very skilled and help keep you safe and focused on your spiritual journey.

When you reach Dirapuk at 4,890 meters, you will stay in a new guesthouse. It is the best place to stay in this high mountain area. The rooms are simple and shared with others, with basic facilities and no heating. But the guesthouse gives you shelter and warmth, and it has a direct view of Mount Kailash’s North Face. This view is very beautiful, especially at sunset when the mountain glows with a golden light.

Trip Details for Day 5

  • Elevation:
  • Yam Dwar – 4,790 meters (15,715 feet)
  • Dirapuk – 4,920 meters (16,141 feet)
  • Transport:

  • Meals Provided: Breakfast (B), Lunch (L – packed vegetarian), Dinner (D)
  • Accommodation: Guesthouse at Dirapuk – Basic, shared rooms, provides essential shelter at high altitude to help you focus spiritually

Day 6: Crossing Dolma La Pass – The Highest Point of Your Kailash Parikrama

This is the hardest and most important day of the whole pilgrimage. It is the highest point of the Kailash Parikrama in both height and spiritual meaning. After breakfast and final preparations at Dirapuk, pilgrims start a tough 22-kilometer walk up to Dolma La Pass, which is 5,645 meters high.

This part of the journey usually takes 8 to 10 hours. It tests your strength, patience, and determination. The path is steep, rocky, and sometimes covered in snow. The air is thin, and the weather can change. But the hard work makes the day very special spiritually. Every step is like letting go of pride and attachment. It is a hard walk toward finding inner peace.

When you reach the top of Dolma La, pilgrims stop to pray and say mantras. They leave prayer flags, personal items, or symbols as a way to show their spiritual intentions. Many believe this place is the true heart of the pilgrimage. It is where bad karma can be released and the soul can feel new again.

Just below the pass is Gaurikunda, a sacred glacial lake linked to Goddess Parvati. Pilgrims often stop here for quiet prayer or reflection because it represents the divine feminine and balance in the journey.

The walk down from Dolma La is steep and hard on tired legs. But with the help of our guides and Sherpas, and the use of Yaks and Yak-men to carry luggage, your load is lighter. Our team also carries oxygen tanks and first aid to keep everyone safe. They watch carefully to help any pilgrim who needs it.

By late afternoon or early evening, the group arrives at Zuthulphuk, which is a quiet valley known for meditation caves and peacefulness. Here, you will stay in a simple dormitory-style guesthouse where you can rest and have warm food after a very hard day.

Day 7: Finishing the Kora – Last Trek and Return Drive to Taklakot with Final Views of Mansarovar

The morning begins quietly as you get ready to finish the last part of the Kailash Parikrama. After the hard climb and descent of Dolma La, today’s walk is easier and peaceful. It is an 8-kilometer walk that takes 2 to 3 hours. This slower walk gives you time to think about the sacred journey you have completed.

Walking through the Zuthulphuk valley, surrounded by rocky lands and stones carved with prayers, there is a strong feeling of respect. Every step brings the journey to an end while the spiritual meaning stays with you.

When you reach the end of the trek, our team will have vehicles ready. From here, you will drive back to Darchen where a fresh vegetarian lunch is waiting. This is a good time to rest, reconnect, and feel proud of finishing the walk around Mount Kailash.

After lunch, the trip continues by road to Taklakot. The drive follows the edge of Lake Mansarovar. This last chance to see the calm, holy waters is special. Many pilgrims use this moment for quiet prayers, promises, or thanks. Many say this last view of Mansarovar is one of the most moving parts of the whole pilgrimage.

When you arrive at Taklakot, at 3,900 meters, you will check into the Himalayan Guest House or a similar place. With the Parikrama complete, the evening is for rest, sharing stories with other pilgrims, and getting ready to return through Nepal.

Trip Details for Day 7

  • Elevation: Taklakot – 3,770 meters (12,368 feet)
  • Transport:

Day 8: Leaving the Mountains – Smooth Flights Back to Nepalgunj

As the sun rises over the Tibetan plateau, your journey begins to go down, not just in height but in speed. The sacred peaks of Mount Kailash and the life-changing Parikrama become memories you carry in your heart as you return to the easier life of the lowlands.

After an early breakfast in Taklakot, our team will organize your drive back to the Hilsa border. This route, which once felt full of excitement, now feels calm, letting you think about the special experiences from the past week.

At Hilsa, you will complete border paperwork with help from our guides. They know the process well and make sure your return to Nepal goes smoothly. From the border, you will fly in a chartered helicopter for about 25 minutes to Simikot. This flight gives you one last look at the wild Himalayan lands that were so important in your pilgrimage.

When you land in Simikot, you will take a fixed-wing plane back to Nepalgunj. You should arrive by late afternoon at lower altitude (about 150 meters), where the air is full of oxygen and the comforts of city life welcome you.

In Nepalgunj, you will go to your hotel — the same nice place you stayed at the start of the journey. Here, a warm meal and a comfortable room are ready for you. This is your chance to rest, relax, and think about everything you have experienced: the holy waters of Mansarovar, the challenge of Dolma La, the blessings of Mount Kailash, and the deep changes inside you that only a pilgrimage can bring.

Day 9: Cherished Memories – Drive Back to Lucknow & Departure

Your pilgrimage ends today, but the spiritual feelings from this journey will stay with you long after you have left the roads behind. After a restful night in Nepalgunj, start your last day of the Yatra with a calm breakfast, surrounded by other pilgrims who shared this special experience with you.

After breakfast, we will begin the drive back to Lucknow, following the same 200-kilometer road you traveled at the start of your journey just a few days ago. This 3-hour trip by private air-conditioned coach or car gives you one last quiet time to think. It is a chance to remember the moments that touched your heart, the beautiful places you saw, and the changes inside you that happened quietly during the pilgrimage.

When you arrive in Lucknow (about 120 meters above sea level), our team will help you get to your next destination — whether that is the airport or the railway station — making sure this last step is as easy and smooth as when you arrived on Day 1.

Even though the physical journey ends here, what you take with you cannot be packed or measured. The memories of Mount Kailash, Lake Mansarovar, Dolma La Pass, and the shared prayers and challenges of the Parikrama will become part of your own spiritual story — a story that will stay with you in your thoughts, your practices, and your life ahead.

This package is made to give you a divine experience without extra difficulty. Your physical comfort will not get in the way of your spiritual journey.

Accommodations Overview: Your Comfort During the Yatra

Comfort and rest are very important parts of any spiritual journey — especially one that crosses countries, high mountains, and remote places like the Kailash Mansarovar route. While luxury may not always be possible in the high Himalayas and western Tibet, this trip is planned to give you the best available places to stay at every step, balancing comfort, usefulness, and being close to spiritual sites.

Here is a clear look at where you will stay during your 9-day Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter (starting from Lucknow), so you know what to expect and can travel calmly.

Nepalgunj – Deluxe Urban Comfort Before and After the Yatra

Hotel Soaltee Western Premier or Central Plaza

In Nepalgunj, you will stay at a 5-star deluxe hotel known for modern facilities, large rooms, good service, and excellent food. These hotels offer an important rest point before you go up into the Himalayas and again at the end of the journey, giving you needed comfort and energy. The hotels have air conditioning, hot water, private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and vegetarian meals chosen to suit pilgrims.

Simikot – Gateway to the Sky in Remote Western Nepal

Mansarovar Hotel or Similar

In Simikot, a remote mountain town almost 3,000 meters high, the places to stay are simple but clean and practical. The hotel offers basic comfort like clean beds, hot water (when it is available), and traditional meals. It may not be fancy, but its important location helps you start adjusting to the higher altitude. Our team will make sure you are well cared for.

Hilsa & Taklakot – Essential Comfort in Remote Tibet

Himalayan Guest House or Similar

These basic guesthouses are the best places to stay in this far and high part of Tibet. Though simple, they have clean beds, shared bathrooms, and a safe place to rest before and after crossing the border. Electricity and hot water may be limited because of the location, but our team is ready to help and makes sure your main needs are met.

Mansarovar – A Night Beside the Sacred Waters

Good Guesthouse by Mansarovar Lake

The places near Lake Mansarovar are modest and plain, but the chance to stay right next to one of Asia’s holiest lakes is very special. Though the facilities may be simple, you will have a rare chance to meditate, do rituals, and see the sunrise or sunset over the lake from your lodging. Expect shared rooms, little electricity, and few extras — but the experience is priceless.

Darchen – Base Camp for Kailash Parikrama

Himalayan Guest House, Darchen

This is the official base camp for the Kailash Parikrama, and it offers the best practical and comfortable lodging in the area. The guesthouse has standard rooms, vegetarian meals, and good support services. It is a good place to prepare your mind and body for the Parikrama. While not fancy, it is clean, useful, and close to all the things needed for the trek to start.

Dirapuk & Zuthulphuk – High-Altitude Shelters on the Sacred Trail

New Guesthouses (Dormitory-Style)

During the Kailash Parikrama, you will stay in simple dormitory-style guesthouses at Dirapuk and Zuthulphuk. These places provide the basic shelter you need at very high altitudes, near and above 5,000 meters. Privacy is limited, and the facilities are basic, but safety, rest, and warmth are the main focus. Pilgrims share rooms and use common toilets. Our support team makes sure you have clean bedding, hot meals, and emotional support to help you concentrate on your spiritual goals.

Managing Expectations: A Key to a Fulfilling Yatra

Our team believes being clear helps build confidence. While some parts of the Yatra have very simple conditions, especially in Tibet and on the Parikrama route, we prepare every pilgrim with honest information, physical help, and emotional support. The places to stay are chosen from many years of experience, always picking the safest, cleanest, and most suitable lodging available at each stop.

Fixed Departure Dates for 2025: Plan Your Sacred Journey

For many pilgrims, the timing of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is as important as the journey itself. To help you plan clearly and confidently, we offer fixed departure dates for 2025. These dates are chosen based on the best travel times and important spiritual moments.

Our group departures help create shared spiritual energy, make logistics easier, and allow people to bond. Many pilgrims like to travel during the full moon, which is very special for rituals at Lake Mansarovar and around Mount Kailash. These dates make the spiritual experience stronger and are often very popular.

Below is the full schedule of fixed departures from Lucknow in July, August, and September 2025:

Nar phu valley trek with Kamal guide, perfect!

My partner and I went on a 9-day trek in the Nar and Phu Valley. Our Kamal guide was just perfect! Professional and very nice, he accompanied us along with the porter Prim throughout the itinerary, adapting it to our needs and desires. I don't think we could have fallen into better hands than Kamal, he promptly solved all the little problems we encountered, he was fantastic as was the porter Prim. Amazing experience thank you!

Nepal Social Treks Review

I’ve just completed the 15 day Everest Base Camp trek with Nepal Social Treks and can’t praise the company, guide & porter highly enough. My guide in particular, Lhakpa was an absolute star who could not do enough to make the time away as comfortable as possible. Considerate, knowledgeable, funny, kind & inspiring. I genuinely don’t think I could have completed the trek without their support! A lifetime ambition completed thanks :)

EBC by Gokyo

If you are planning to do the EBC, the Agency should be Nepal Social Trek and the Guide should be Santa Thabir Magar. Permanent communication during trekking and excellent coordination at all times. The alternative I recommend is Gokyo. Something heavier than the classic, but definitely extraordinary. Also the views of the great mountains during the circuit, are not to forget them

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions): Your Questions Answered

Expand all

What is the best time to visit Kailash Mansarovar?

The best time to go on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is from May to September. During this time, the weather is mostly steady and the mountain passes are open. For this trip, we suggest going from July to September because it matches our set departure schedule. We also have special departures on full moon days, which many believe bring more spiritual benefits.

Is the Kailash Parikrama difficult? What kind of physical fitness is needed?

The Kailash Parikrama is from medium to hard in difficulty. This is because of the high altitude and uneven land. Even though the helicopter route lowers the physical effort, the trek goes above 5,600 meters in height. It is very important to be in good health, have some basic fitness for your heart and lungs, and be mentally ready. It is best to practice daily walking and breathing exercises for at least 1 to 2 months before the trip.

What documents are needed for a Tibet visa for Indian pilgrims?

If you have an Indian passport, you will need these documents:

  • A scanned copy of your passport that is valid for at least six months after your travel date
  • Four passport-size photos with a white background
  • A medical fitness certificate, which is required if you are over 70 years old or have health issues
  • A marriage certificate if the surnames of you and your spouse are different

Our team will take care of the entire visa and permit process. We work with officials in Nepal and Tibet to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Is travel insurance necessary for the Kailash Yatra?

Yes, travel insurance is required for this Yatra. It must cover high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation. These are not included in the trip package. The insurance will protect you financially in case you have medical problems, flight delays, or sudden cancellations.

What kind of food is served during the Yatra, especially in Tibet?

During the Yatra, we provide only vegetarian meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. An Indian cook prepares the food, so it is familiar and clean. While doing the Parikrama, you will get packed vegetarian lunches each day. This helps keep your energy up and helps your stomach handle the high altitude.

Are there ATMs or places to exchange money in Tibet during the Yatra?

ATMs and card payments are very rare in western Tibet. It is very important to carry enough Chinese Yuan (CNY) cash for your personal expenses. The best place to exchange money is before entering Tibet, in Nepalgunj or Kathmandu.

What facilities are available at Dirapuk and Zuthulphuk during the Parikrama?

At Dirapuk and Zuthulphuk, the guesthouses are simple dormitory-style. They offer just basic shelter and a place to rest at the high altitude. There are shared rooms, and electricity or running water is limited. Although these places are modest, they are in the right spots to help you focus on the spiritual side of the journey, not on comfort.

How are emergencies handled, especially medical ones, at high altitude?

Our team carries:

  • First-aid kits and portable oxygen tanks
  • Guides trained in handling emergencies at high altitudes
  • Satellite phones to communicate where there is no mobile signal
  • Plans to evacuate you to lower places or by helicopter if needed (insurance must cover the cost)

You will never be alone. Our staff is ready for any emergency.

Can older people or those with health problems join the helicopter Yatra?

Yes, the helicopter route is very good for older people and those who cannot handle long overland travel. But if you are over 70 years old or have health conditions, you must have a medical fitness certificate from a doctor. Our team will review your documents and decide if you can join.

What is the meaning of a full moon departure for the Kailash Yatra?

A full moon at Lake Mansarovar or Mount Kailash is seen as very special and lucky. Many pilgrims believe the spiritual rewards, purification, and blessings are stronger during the full moon. Our trips in July, August, and September include special full moon departures, which are often fully booked early because many people want to go at this time.

Who Can Join: Rules for Your Sacred Trip

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not only a spiritual journey but also a physical challenge that needs good preparation. While using helicopters makes it easier than the normal road routes, the Parikrama still involves high-altitude walking and needs mental strength, physical fitness, and careful planning.

Below are the rules to help you decide if this trip is right for you and how to get ready.

Health and Fitness Needs

All travelers must be in good health, both body and mind. The Kailash Parikrama is at more than 5,000 meters high, where the weather can be cold, windy, and change quickly. You need basic fitness and endurance.

  • You should be able to walk 10 to 15 kilometers a day on rough paths.
  • A calm, positive mind is very important, especially when it gets hard.
  • People who walk or hike regularly and live an active life usually can do this trip well.

Altitude Sickness: What to Know and How to Prevent It

Altitude sickness is a real risk on this trip and should not be ignored. The trip plan includes rest days in Simikot and Taklakot to help your body get used to the height. Still, you must be careful and ready.

To prevent altitude sickness:

  • Drink lots of water during the trip
  • Go up slowly and follow the guides’ pace
  • Know symptoms like headache, nausea, dizziness, or trouble breathing
  • Tell your guide right away if you feel unwell

Our team has oxygen and first aid kits, and guides know how to handle high-altitude problems.

Age and Medical Rules

This trip is open to Indian citizens aged 18 to 75 years. Those over 70 or with health problems must provide:

  • A medical fitness certificate from a registered doctor
  • The certificate must say the person is fit for high-altitude trekking and flying

All medical papers are checked by our team. We may refuse participation if safety is a concern.

If you have serious lung, heart, or movement problems, please talk to your doctor and think about other options because the Parikrama is hard at high altitude.

Who Can Join Based on Nationality

This Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter (from Lucknow) is mainly for Indian citizens. All permits, transport, and support are set for Indian passport holders.

If you have a passport from another country, please contact us. We might arrange something, but extra visa and travel rules will apply.

Group and Private Options

All trips listed are group trips with limited places to give good care and easy planning.

  • Private Yatra trips can be arranged if available and cost more.
  • Small families or groups can ask for special dates and slower schedules, especially if traveling with elderly or special needs pilgrims.

Travel Tips and Important Things to Bring

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a trip that can change your life. But because it is in remote, high places, you need to prepare well. Packing smart and planning ahead will help you focus on the spiritual meaning, not on problems.

Below is a detailed list of things to bring, sorted by type. Every item has a purpose — for your comfort, safety, or to help you live well in the tough Himalayan conditions.

Essential Packing List

1. Clothing: Stay Warm, Dry & Layered

The weather can change a lot — it might be warm during the day but very cold at night. It is important to wear layers so you can stay comfortable:

  • Base layers (thermals) – shirts and pants that pull moisture away from your skin
  • Fleece jackets or sweaters – to keep you warm
  • Down or padded jacket – very important for cold mornings and nights
  • Waterproof and windproof outer shell – light and lets your skin breathe
  • Trekking pants – dry quickly and allow easy movement
  • Thermal socks (wool or synthetic) – bring several pairs to keep your feet warm
  • Gloves – one fleece pair and one waterproof pair to wear outside
  • Woolen hat or beanie – to keep heat in duringcold evenings

Tip: Do not wear cotton next to your skin because it holds moisture and can make you colder, which is dangerous at high altitudes.

2. Footwear: Protect Your Feet on Every Step

The Parikrama trail is rough and rocky, so your shoes need to keep your feet safe and steady.

  •  Strong, waterproof trekking boots – boots with high ankle support are best, and make sure you break them in before the trek
  • Comfortable sandals or camp shoes – to wear when you rest or stay in guesthouses

3. Trekking Gear: Carry Only What You Need

Most of your big luggage will be carried by yaks or support vehicles. You only need to carry important items in your day pack while trekking.

  • Day pack (20–30 liters) – to carry water, snacks, extra clothes, and personal things
  • Duffle bag – given by the tour company for your main luggage
  • Sleeping bag – good to have for warmth and cleanliness; sometimes provided but bringing your own is better
  • Headlamp or flashlight – bring extra batteries too
  • Sunglasses with UV protection – the sun’s rays are strong at high places
  • Trekking poles – very helpful for balance, especially when going down hills like Dolma La Pass

4. Personal Essentials: Stay Healthy & Comfortable

Small personal items can make your trip easier, especially since there are few facilities on the trail.

  • Toiletries – soap that breaks down naturally, toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, and sanitary items
  • Quick-drying towel – light and easy to pack
  • Sunscreen with high SPF – very important to protect your skin from sunburn
  • Lip balm with SPF – keeps your lips from drying and cracking
  • Hand sanitizer and wet wipes – to stay clean on the go
  • Personal medicines – bring enough for the whole trip, and carry a doctor’s note if you need prescriptions

Optional but useful: basic first-aid items like band-aids and antiseptic cream, tablets for altitude sickness (ask your doctor first), water purification tablets, snacks like dry fruits, and a small notebook to write down your thoughts.

Health & Acclimatization: Preparing Body and Mind for High Altitude

A good and meaningful Kailash Mansarovar Yatra needs both your body and mind to be ready. Our schedule includes days to get used to the altitude and medical support, but each traveler must also understand the challenges of high places and prepare well.

Here are some important health tips and ways to help your body adjust safely so you can avoid sickness while on your sacred journey.

Pre-Yatra Physical Conditioning

Even with helicopter rides, the Mount Kailash Parikrama is a tough trek above 5,000 meters. Start getting ready physically 1 or 2 months before the trip by:

  • Walking every day for at least 5 to 7 kilometers to build stamina
  • Doing light cardio exercise like jogging, cycling, or swimming to build endurance
  • Practicing breathing exercises (like Pranayama) to make your lungs stronger
  • Climbing stairs or hiking to get used to going uphill

Try to be steady and regular with your practice. The goal is to improve your heart and breathing without getting hurt or tired too much.

Hydration: The First Rule of Acclimatization

Drinking enough water is very important to avoid altitude sickness. At high places, your body loses water faster.

  • Drink 3 to 4 liters of water every day, even if you don’t feel thirsty
  • Avoid alcohol, too much caffeine, and fizzy drinks because they make you lose water and make it harder for your body to absorb oxygen
  • Coconut water, electrolyte drinks, and herbal teas are good to drink

Dietary Tips for High-Altitude Travel

What you eat affects your energy, digestion, and how well your body adjusts. The meals on the Yatra are pure vegetarian, made to be light, healthy, and easy to digest.

  • Do not eat heavy, spicy, or fried foods that canupset your stomach
  • Eat smaller meals more often to keep your energyup
  • Drink warm liquids, eat simple carbs, and fresh fruits if you can

If you have special food needs, please tell our team before the trip so they can help.

Medication & Personal Health Management

It is very important to see a doctor before the Yatra, especially if you:

  • Have had altitude sickness before, or have breathing or long-term health problems
  • Take regular medicines (bring enough for the whole trip with a prescription)

You might want to ask your doctor about Diamox (Acetazolamide), a medicine that can help prevent altitude sickness. Only take medicine if your doctor says it is safe.

Carry a health kit with:
  • Painkillers, medicine for diarrhea, and motion sickness tablets
  • Your prescription medicines clearly labeled
  • A doctor’s note for any special medicines or altitude treatments

Altitude Sickness: Know the Symptoms & Take Action Early

Altitude sickness, also called Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), can happen to anyone, no matter how fit they are. It is important to notice the signs early and get help quickly to avoid bigger problems.

Common signs are:

  • A headache that doesn’t go away
  • Feeling sick or not wanting to eat
  • Feeling very tired or weak
  • Feeling dizzy or having trouble sleeping
  • Shortness of breath when resting

If you feel any of these, tell your guide right away. Don’t ignore them — getting help early keeps you safe. Our team knows how to care for people at high altitude and carries oxygen, first aid supplies, and satellite phones in case of emergencies.

Visa, Permits & On-the-Ground Essentials: What You Need to Know

You can focus on your spiritual journey when all travel papers and money matters are easy. We made this guide to help you know about the travel documents, money, and communication you need for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter (Ex-Lucknow). We take care of all the paperwork so you can enjoy the trip.

Tibet Visa & Permits for Indian Pilgrims

To visit Mount Kailash in Tibet (part of China), you need special permits and a group visa, especially if you have an Indian passport. Our team handles the visa and permits for you by working with the Nepalese and Chinese authorities.

Documents you must send ahead of time:

  • Clear scanned copy of your passport (valid for at least 6 months after your trip)
  • Four recent passport photos (white background, no shine)
  • Medical fitness certificate (needed if you are over 70 or have health problems)
  • Marriage certificate (if traveling with your spouse and your last names are different)

Timing:

  • Permit process starts 30 to 40 days before you leave
  • Your original passport will be kept when you arrive in Nepalgunj and returned before you leave

Note: Tibet group visas are required for Indian passport holders and must be done through an approved travel company. Individual permits are not given.

Nepal Visa Requirements

  • Indian citizens do not need a visa to enter Nepal
  • People with other passports need a Nepal visa, which they can get when entering or apply for before travel
  • You may need re-entry permits if you leave Nepal to go to Tibet and come back

We help non-Indian travelers understand and get Nepal visas if they want to join the trip.

Tour Operator Assistance with All Permits

We take care of:

  • Tibet Group Visa and Entry Permits
  • Kailash Parikrama and Mansarovar Lake Permits
  • Nepal re-entry documents (if needed)

Our job is to make the paperwork easy for you. From copying documents to final approvals, we handle everything.

Documents You Must Carry During the Yatra

Please keep these items with you in your day pack or on your person at all times:

  • Original passport (this is required for all border crossings)
  • 4 to 6 passport-sized photos
  • Copies of all travel permits and visas
  • Travel insurance certificate or a digital copy
  • A small notebook with emergency contacts and medical information

Currency & Payments in Tibet

Local Currency:

  • The official money used in Tibet is the Chinese Yuan (CNY).

Payment Tips:

  • Carry cash because most guesthouses, shops, and restaurants in western Tibet do not accept international cards
  • Bring enough Chinese Yuan for personal expenses like snacks, tips, and extra services
  • ATMs are very rare and might not work well, especially in places like Taklakot, Darchen, and the Parikrama areas

Currency Exchange:

  • It is best to exchange Indian Rupees or US Dollars to Chinese Yuan in Kathmandu or Nepalgunj before entering Tibet
  • You cannot exchange money in Hilsa or during the trek
  • Our team can help with currency exchange where it is possible

Mobile Network & Wi-Fi: What to Expect

Mobile Connectivity:

  • Indian SIM cards do not work in Tibet
  • Chinese SIM cards are limited and hard for Indian pilgrims to get

You may have no mobile signal in Simikot, Hilsa, Dirapuk, Zuthulphuk, and parts of Taklakot

Emergency Communication:

  • Our guides carry satellite phones to use in emergencies where there is no mobile signal
  • You can send urgent messages if needed, but general phone use will be very limited

Wi-Fi Access:

  • Some guesthouses in Nepalgunj, Simikot, or Taklakot may have Wi-Fi that you can pay for, but it is often slow and unreliable
  • There is no Wi-Fi during the Parikrama or at Mansarovar

Travel Tip: Tell your family and work about the times you will not be able to communicate during the trip

  • Transport by support vehicles to the nearest road
  • Helicopter evacuation from Hilsa or Simikot if needed for medical reasons
  • Working closely with local officials and air rescue teams

Please note that evacuation costs are not included in the tour price. You must have travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation.

Safety Briefings: Knowing More Makes You Safer

We give regular safety talks to help you stay safe and ready. These talks cover:

  • How to recognize altitude sickness and what to do if you feel it
  • How to stay hydrated, warm, and keep a good pace
  • Information about trail conditions and weather forecasts
  • Guidelines for respecting culture in sacred places and Tibetan villages

You will always know what to expect and how to stay safe each day.
