Amazing experience

I had an amazing experience with Nepal Social Trek! Starting with clear communication and well-organized trip planning followed by a warm welcome, we were impressed by the great hospitality we received from everyone. The trip was a real adventure, full of happy emotions and beautiful moments shared together. Our guides, Narayan and Govinda, were extremely skilled and knowledgeable. They were not only excellent guides but also beautiful people from a human point of view. After the trek, Nepal Social Trek also arranged a guided tour of the city of Bhaktapur and its temples for us. I absolutely recommend Nepal Social Trek!

Langtang Valley Trek

What an epic trip! Nepal Social Treks were brilliant. Seamless organisation from start to finish. They were always friendly and responsive with communication before I came out, were helpful when it came to hiccups with my baggage. And were flexible with my tour, switching from the Tamang to the Langtang trek with no complaints. My guide - Kamal, and porter - Santa, were both excellent. Kamal was super knowledgable, trustworthy, and great company. Santa’s a legend! The accommodation & food were great. The daily trekking: incredible and just the right level of challenging. I could not recommend this trek enough if you’re after something shorter.

Nepal Social Treks were an amazing company who helped me make memories for my life on a climbing attempt of Island Peak December 2023. Even though it was in the off-season and in December, they ensured I had everything necessary to achieve my goal and enjoy my winter trek. They were also very helpful after the trek and I enjoyed my conversations in their Kathmandu office. I'd recommend my friends to go climbing with them any day.

A trip organized by Simina Cernat our guide from România with a very good collaboration with Nepal Social Trecks. This was an experience of a lifetime rafting mountains nature people… We are grateful we had Lakpa to guide us throughout the trecking. Lakpa carefully addressed all our questions and help us understand Nepali culture he was the best guide friendly, kind, patient and felt very taken care of during our 9days trek on the Annapurna Circuit. At 5000m i had a difficult moment, could hardly walk but Lakpa immediately observed that and he helped me succesfully reach to Thorong La pass. 5416m. Also the two porters Nima and Manut were very nice and helpful. The trip itself was well thought through for our needs and expectations. Thank you Lakpa and high-level

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Expand all

When is the best time to go trekking in Everest Base Camp?

Like any other trekking destination of Nepal, the most favorable time to trek to Everest Base Camp is during spring and autumn. It is because, during these seasons, the sky tends to stay consistent and clear, offering a spectacular view of the mountains. Moreover, the weather also remains moderate during this time of the year, which is ideal for long-day trekking.

What is the difficulty level of the Everest Base Camp Trek?

Everest Base Camp Trek (EBC Trek) is considered a strenuous trek. However, there are no technical routes or climbs on this trek. The route to the base camp is not paved and is likely to get rough, rocky, and gravel-strewn most of the time.Additionally, the EBC Trek is two-week-long, where you will have to walk for about 5 to 6 hours every day on average. Therefore, those who have a weak ankle needs to be careful in every step. Also, depending upon the season, the trail might be covered in ice and snow, which is going to be much more challenging than a regular trail. But, if you’re already an avid trekker, this should not be much of a challenge for you. Even for a first-timer, this trek is achievable if you make proper preparation prior to departure.

How's the drinking water on the trek? Is it safe to drink?

The tea houses on the trail provide safe drinking water. But, we do not recommend you to drink the water from local streams or natural sources. Make sure to carry a water bottle and ask your guide to fill the water in the teahouse. Also, it is better to carry water purifiers and tablets to treat the water for safety.

Are we in the threat of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) while trekking to Everest Base Camp?

Frankly speaking, the risk of acute mountain sickness differs from person to person. Since you’ll be walking up to 5,643m at Kala Patthar, the risk factor will be present. However, our packages for Everest Base Camp are thoughtfully designed with proper acclimatization days to reduce the chances of altitude sickness. In addition to that, all our guides are certified first-aid responders who will effectively monitor you and help you, if any symptoms are seen.It is recommended to trek at a slow and steady pace, instead of rushing to reach your destination. Most importantly, stay hydrated and drink as many fluids as possible to reduce the risk of AMS.

What is the accommodation like in the Everest Base Camp Trek?

Everest Base Camp Trek is a classic teahouse trek. Like most trekking destinations in the Khumbu region, most teahouses in Everest Base Camp Trek are relatively well-managed and comfortable. To be honest, there is a wide range of options when it comes to accommodation in the Everest region — from relatively cheaper lodges with basic amenities to deluxe quality hotels. You will be accommodated in deluxe quality teahouses in every overnight stop. Although they are not likely to be as luxurious as the star hotels in the city areas, they will provide all the necessary amenities such as cozy rooms, delicious food, WiFi, charging facilities, and hot shower facilities.

What is the food like on the Everest Base Camp Trek?

The teahouses of Everest Base Camp serve both Nepali as well as western cuisines. Dal Bhat is by far the most preferred meal while trekking in the Himalayas. However, in a few places, especially in the upper reaches of the trek, you might have to make do with the bucket bath.Bear in mind. The teahouses will charge you an additional amount for hot shower facilities, which is not included in the package

Is WiFi available on the Everest Base Camp trek?

Yes, most lodges and teahouses in the Everest region do provide WiFi services. However, the teahouse owner will charge you an additional amount for the WiFi service. It is also important to remember that WiFi connection in the mountains does not tend to be as reliable as they usually are in the cities. If you want to stay connected with your friend and family while trekking to Everest Base Camp, we suggest you buy Everest Link WiFi. It is a wireless internet service, which is accessible in most parts of the Khumbu region. Bear in mind that you can only buy them in the villages above Namche Bazaar. Everest Link is a considerably cheap and reliable internet service compared to regular WiFi services in the Khumbu region.

Where can I charge my phone on EBC Trek?

Yes, most teahouses in the Everest region do provide charging facilities. However, since they are solar-powered, the charging stations are available only for small electronic devices, such as mobile phones, portable chargers, cameras, and battery packs.Bear in mind that charging facilities comes at an additional cost.
