What good is it to observe things in parts when they are meant to be seen as the complete whole? The mesmerizing grandeur of the Himalayan border stretching between Nepal and Tibet can only be described once you have witnessed the full picture and with individual trekking routes, it will take you years to see them all and still find out that you have missed the tiny peak on the edge. With the Flight over the Himalayas by helicopter, we offer you once in a lifetime journey to witness the Himalayas complete and the way they were meant to be seen in the first place.

The journey heading out of Kathmandu Valley begins with stunning views of Shishapangma (8,013m) flanked by Dorje Lakpa (6,996m) to its immediate right. The aerial adventure heads towards Choba Bhamara and at 5,993m it is the smallest of the lot. We soon find ourselves headed towards the twin peaks of Gaurishankar (7,145m) where either peak is believed to be protected by the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and his consort Devi Gauri. Soaring above the glacial ridges over the eastern Himalayas brings us to Melungtse (7,181m) and once past the glistening Number (6,958m) and Karyolung (6,511m) lies Cho-Oyu the world's sixth tallest mountain at an altitude of 8,188m. We head towards Pumori (7,165m) followed by Nuptse (7,861m) which translates to west peak signifying the direction it faces from Mt. Everest. The crowned jewel in the Himalayan crown stretching towards the silvery skyline reaching an elevation of 8,848m will be the icing on the cake as the journey finally overlooks the majestic Everest. The snowy peaks turning golden with the rising sun which casts an ethereal glow on the Himalayas is truly a memory to last a lifetime. Having our fill of the Himalayan adventure the flight turns back to Kathmandu where breakfast awaits us.

Flight Over Himalayas, albeit short, is a trip that makes for a memorable experience and we, here at Nepal Social Treks and Expedition, offer the best of services and safety measures to make sure that you can fully enjoy the Himalayan display.

Clothing

  •  Wear comfortable clothing
  • Avoid anything that restricts body movement
  •  Even though we don’t stop anywhere during the trip it is essential to wear warm clothes
  • Thermal wears if you feel the need
  • Do carry an additional piece of clothing if needed

Temperature

The temperature around the Himalayan ranges almost always stays under sub-zero reaching even -40 degree Celsius on average during winter. The changing seasons bring alteration in climate around the region and while it is normal for the temperatures to drop below 0 degrees Celsius in peaks stretching to 7,000 or 8,000 meters the peaks falling under the elevation of 5,000 to 7,000 can display positive temperatures during spring.

Trip Highlights

  • Spectatular view.
  • Close-up views of some of the world's tallest mountains including Mt. Everest (8,848m)
  • Early morning travel just in time to witness the golden shade of the snowy summits
  • An unforgettable adventure soaring above lush green forests adorned by varieties of flowers blooming in shades of red, pink, yellow, and many more

Nar phu valley trek with Kamal guide, perfect!

My partner and I went on a 9-day trek in the Nar and Phu Valley. Our Kamal guide was just perfect! Professional and very nice, he accompanied us along with the porter Prim throughout the itinerary, adapting it to our needs and desires. I don't think we could have fallen into better hands than Kamal, he promptly solved all the little problems we encountered, he was fantastic as was the porter Prim. Amazing experience thank you!

Nepal Social Treks Review

I’ve just completed the 15 day Everest Base Camp trek with Nepal Social Treks and can’t praise the company, guide & porter highly enough. My guide in particular, Lhakpa was an absolute star who could not do enough to make the time away as comfortable as possible. Considerate, knowledgeable, funny, kind & inspiring. I genuinely don’t think I could have completed the trek without their support! A lifetime ambition completed thanks :)

EBC by Gokyo

If you are planning to do the EBC, the Agency should be Nepal Social Trek and the Guide should be Santa Thabir Magar. Permanent communication during trekking and excellent coordination at all times. The alternative I recommend is Gokyo. Something heavier than the classic, but definitely extraordinary. Also the views of the great mountains during the circuit, are not to forget them

Grazie grazie grazie
