Located in the rain shadow of the Annapurna and\nDhaulagiri ranges, this region is known for its dry hills, deep valleys,\nancient caves, and traditional villages. The landscape looks very different\nfrom the green forests and snowy trails found on many other treks in Nepal. As\nyou walk through the region, you can discover old monasteries, prayer walls,\nand the walled city of Lo Manthang, where Tibetan-influenced culture remains an\nimportant part of daily life."}},{"id":"XOsuDjtbOa","type":"paragraph","data":{"text":"The <a href=\"https:\/\/nepalsocialtreks.com\/trip\/upper-mustang-trek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Upper Mustang Trek<\/a> takes you from the busy streets of\nKathmandu to the quiet mountain trails of the Mustang region. Your journey\nbegins in Kathmandu at around 1,365 metres (4,478 feet). From there, you travel\nto Pokhara before flying to Jomsom, which sits at approximately 2,743 metres\n(9,000 feet). After reaching Jomsom, the trek continues towards Kagbeni and\nthen into the restricted Upper Mustang region. As you pass through villages\nsuch as Chele, Syangboche, Ghami, and Tsarang, the trail gradually takes you to\nhigher elevations."}},{"id":"b49cr7s4fL","type":"paragraph","data":{"text":"Understanding the Upper Mustang Trek Altitude is an\nimportant part of preparing for this journey. Although the trek does not reach\nthe extreme heights of some popular Himalayan routes, much of the walking takes\nplace above 3,000 metres. You might also feel more tired than usual, even if you are physically\nfit."}},{"id":"bR0rguYQH4","type":"paragraph","data":{"text":"Altitude is not just a number on a map. It affects how your\nbody responds to the mountain environment and how much energy you need each\nday. It is also important to\nrecognise signs of altitude sickness and tell your guide if you begin to feel\nunwell."}},{"id":"dA7w9-13Re","type":"paragraph","data":{"text":"Knowing the Upper Mustang Trek Altitude before departure\nhelps you plan your daily walks, choose suitable clothing, and prepare both\nphysically and mentally. Lo Manthang, the famous walled city and a\nmajor stop on the trek, sits at approximately 3,840 metres (12,598 feet).
